The KEENAGERS is a
ministry for folks over 55 (and their spouses) who meet to
share fellowship, encouragement, and outreach with others
of like interests, needs, and goals. The stated purpose for this
fellowship is to provide an opportunity for fellowship, spiritual
challenge, evangelism, and service for the seniors within our
church.
It is a fellowship
that our seniors can enjoy and enthusiastically invite their friends
to that will benefit them spiritually. It is not just a social club, or
senior entertainment program. Every activity has
a spiritual emphasis
included to minister to our seniors.
Some of the
activities that had been planned for this group included: Potluck
dinners, game nights, progressive supper, sweetheart banquet,
Bible Land Plants tour at the Boyce Thompson State Park,
picnics, Dolly Steamboat cruise on Canyon Lake, Old fashioned Ice Cream Social, Pie
social,
Tour of Palo Verde
Nuclear Power Plant, and Verde Valley Train Ride.
In the Scriptures the
aged were to be respected and their counsel valued. We read: “the
hoary head is a crown of glory. . .” and “thou shalt rise up
before the hoary head.” The older ones were examples and teachers
of the younger ones. We encourage all of our seniors to become
active in our KEENAGERS fellowship. It is an opportunity to be
blessed, and to serve our Lord and the local church together.
